Welcome to Apostles Community Outreach Non Profit Corporation
P R O M O T E
PROMOTE is a Preventative or Restorative Outreach Ministry of Training and Education that promotes Christian development and choices for individuals and families.
The passion for outreach was born from a vision God gave to Apostles to model Christ's love to our neighbors. As this heart call was shared, God's desire was heard by Harvest Assembly of God and Campostella Refuge Church of God in Christ, PROMOTE's founding partners.
The vision for PROMOTE is to establish and maintain Family Development Centers in strategic locations that are committed to meeting the spiritual, physical and emotional needs – as they relate to family issues – of individuals in Hampton Roads.
PROMOTE wants to bridge the gap between "the church" and "the community." PROMOTE is called to "meet unmet needs" – offering resources and solutions that existing public and private organizations can not.

READ ABOUT OUR PROGRESS
Our Progress: To chart our course for meeting the unmet needs in our community, Apostles Church Council shared with the congregation in February 2004 a Strategic Plan for PROMOTE that sets forth the details of planned actions, their timing and implementation schedule. Individuals were invited to participate in different aspects of the Strategic Plan. We took our first steps together in planning for the initial PROMOTE Community Life Center to be constructed on our church property. (Campostella Refuge Church is just beginning its plans to build a Community Life Center in its neighborhood.) The Community Life Centers are designed for PROMOTE to be an active and effective community presence, walking out Christ's call to minister to those in need. Last March, more than 80 Apostles members came together to ‘think out loud,' articulating ministry plans and how they translate into physical space and equipment needs – how to carry out the ministries to which God has called us. Priorities were identified for several spaces including (but not limited to) administrative offices, childcare and preschool, day school and community classrooms, kitchens, and recreation and multi-purpose use areas. This past summer a Building Committee was appointed by Church Council to oversee the construction process, and Council began to explore sources of core funding for the project. The next steps are for architectural and site plans to be prepared, followed by City building approvals, and construction contracting. Importantly, the ministries and programs that will be carried out via the Community Life Center have also gone through – and will continue to go through – a planning and growth process to ensure that they are ready to serve the community when the building is completed. Compassion programs such as Hidden Disabilities Lighthouse Ministry to families living with mental illness and an after-school mentoring project with Heart of Compassion Partnerships have made great strides in reaching out to individuals and families in need. In the infancy stages are plans for a health clinic for the working poor and a parenting skills coaching program to be offered at the Community Life Center.
